By the request and suggestion of some concerned brothers and sisters, due to the reason that some of those who are diligently praying for Cassidy and her family are from all around the world and may not know our circle of friends personally, the regular Blog posting may confused them because Dr. Jesse would sometimes refer to people by the names known to local circle only. Therefore, this new Prayer page is made for those who would like to just see the updated prayer needs of the Sheng Family so they can pray more specific prayers for them. So feel free to pass this site onto more prayer buddies to effect a greater prayer power. Thus the name of this new site http://PowerPray.blogspot.com

Cass to Emergency and Stays for Tonight

One day I might feel hope ahead of us, but the other day I could find everything to be so helpless. The ups and downs have been fluctuating so frequently in the past few months. I just wanted to find a place to hide. However, by the end of the day, the Bible verse (Matthew 6:34) came to me.... "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own." 「...一天的難處一天當就夠了。」..... I realized that I needed to take a good rest and give the worries to our Lord as I understand that challenge may come every day ........ I need to refresh and re-organize myself before I can stand next to Cass and battle together with her against her cancer!

Cass felt so sick yesterday. She is in great pain even though she has taken the medication. Originally, Cass has been invited to participate in the Para Swim Camp, which is currently held this weekend in the new Pan Am Pool at U. of T. Scarborough campus. Even though she was not feeling well, she tried hard to get up a few times in an attempt to go there as she had been looking forward so much to meeting her friends in the para swimming group. We finally managed to get her to the car at around 3:00 p.m. yesterday. Yet she was very sick and threw up badly in the car. At the end, we could only return and let her rest at home. She's been struggling with the pain and nausea the whole day yesterday as well as today. The pain did not appear to go away even though more morphine has been applied.

As per the schedule set on this Thursday, we took Cass to Princess Margaret Hospital for the new round of radiation this morning. The treatment this time will focus in two specific areas for a period of 8 days. It will deal precisely with the sacrum and the lower back (L1).

Getting ready for the radiation at Princess Margaret Hospital

Since Cass is very sick and in pain this morning, so we took her to the "Emergency" right after the radiation. She was really in pain even with all her mediation taken. The doctor just came to assess her. However, she needs to be seen by another specialist. Her nurse and the doctor from the palliative team called yesterday to give me the instruction for her medication. They originally asked that we brought Cass back to the hospital should we find the pain and vomiting to be continuing. However, after the diagnosis by the doctors just this afternoon, the medical team decided to keep Cass in the hospital tonight so that they can have the detailed examination on Cass to determine the cause of the severe pain.
At the Sickkids Emergency
Please pray for Cass that the doctors will find the way to ease her pain and her sickness, the radiation will work to control and stabilize her tumours, and the tumours do not spread to other part of her body. Oh, God has mercy on Cassidy!

Hi Cassidy, all I would like to say is get well soon! I would like to see you back on those race blocks, kickin peoples butts. We have meet before at some swim meets, and you have also meet my dad and my brother Nicholas. He was at the para camp with you last year. I would like to get in touch with you, because I have some pictures from this past para camp that happened. You would have loved it. The memories I have of you is always being cheerful and happy and ALWAYS smiling. To see you in this much pain makes me sad and emotional. Reading the blogs that your family members post makes me cry. And the only thing I can think of is "why you and not me". I don't like when people are suffering. I rather I have it, then see you, or any one else go through that much pain and go through that many emotional rides. Because no one in the world is ever ready for that. I have one question for you! Did you ever want something that you can't afford or had a dream to go somewhere or something like that? If you do, just reply on the comment, with your email because I will make that dream come true for you! I am prying for you 24/7 and going to the hardest I ever swim at my swim meets, only thinking that I don't have it hard and the only one who had it hard, is you! So I should not be complaining. The thing I remember you by are:
The girl with one leg, who goes really fast
The girl I saw on the commercial, and I said "I KNOW THAT GIRL!!"
The girl that always smiles even though she has been through a lot
The girl I saw on tvokids and an other show
And last but not least:
The girl who never gave up, no matter what you have!
I am pretty sure, that I am not the only person that thinks this because you are so damn strong, you are a fighter and every person that ever seen you swim, you showed as a fighter and all the things that I remember you as!
I would like you to get better, fight hard and a quote I would like you to follow is:
"God give the hardest battles, to his strongest soldiers!"

Oh thank you! You are truly a girl with a beautiful heart! I cried while I was reading your comment. Cass is still in pain and not well. She will read the comment/message and email when she is getting better. I am sure she will be happy to read your message, and will get some strength from it (it's such encouraging message to her, to me as well). Her email address is: cassidysheng@hotmail.com

Yes, she misses her swimming and all of her swim friends very much! She is fighting so hard, and is hoping that she will be able to get back on swimming soon. Thank you so much for your kindness and prayers!
I wish you every success with your swimming - swim hard!

with love,
Carmen (Cassidy's mom)
